This piece is very special and important to me, due to everything going on in the world, in all aspects politically and socially we've witnessed online injustices done to the black community and how they've managed to rise up and use their voices and stories to raise awareness and spread information of the actions that need to be done to aspire change. The black lives matter movement along with the empowerment of black people, especially women is something that is now, more than ever being seen in the media. I believe representation is very important, it inspires people within that culture especially children to strive for the best and also destroys stereotypes outsiders begin to create about people of different cultures and ethnicities. I created this after listening to one of my favorite musicians, Cleo Sol who happens to be biracial and advocates for black lives, feelings, stories and for women empowerment and growth in general. A lot of her songs´ meanings are revolved around the strength and beauty women possess and how the relationship between the two are ever changing in the process of self-growth and self-love. It's important that we normalize listening to each other's struggles and are not only sympathetic and accepting of their struggles if we have power to potentially change that. Black women are frowned upon for expressing their feelings after having to carry the burden on the shoulders for centuries. Black women have a voice and deserve to be heard.
