Product code: Ellis Ceramics online (Australia) Large Ashtray/Centrepiece | Model #108

Ellis Ceramics was an Australian pottery set up in 1953 by a Czechoslovakian couple, Dasa and Milda Kratochvil, in the backyard of their home in Abbotsford, Melbourne.

Their work is mainly slip-cast earthenware although they did experiment at one stage with stoneware and also made a small variety of wheel-thrown bowls and plates.

Many pieces are hand decorated or carved, some by art students. This makes each piece individual even when online produced from the same mold.

THIS LISTING:

A wonderful and quite large ceramic ashtray (or centrepiece), marked model #108.

This beauty has a gorgeous orangey-red glaze, with a dark brown squiggle throughout the finish. It kinda looks like someone's drizzled chocolate syrup on it!

In excellent vintage condition, with this piece measures approx 4cm tall and 25cm diameter.
