You've got Oliver Twist's 'Please sir, may I have some more?'. Then, of course, you've got The Cure's fantastic Head on the Door. Now, ladies and gentlemen, we introduce to you: Kafka on the Floor. Kafka's old man was a bastard; used to lock him out on a balcony. Reminds me of stories my mother told me about her old man. Kafka's neighbours used report wild laughter coming from his place, when he was writing, in the evening. Had peculiar sexual habits too, it's reported, ooh mama! In Prague, there's a brilliant revolving statue of Kafka. I don't recall if it featured in the dreaded video-tour recorded by Will Self; there's a bloke who grates on people. Most of what Kafka wrote's glittering and yes, if you don't get it, you're an idiot. Persist, however, and you shall transform. Like all good little fascists.
