Fossilized Coral and online Emerald Pendant on Silk with Hand Fabricated Sterling Findings. Bezel Set Agatized Coral with Emerald Nugget Beads
I fabricated a bezel setting for this amazing natural agatized coral (which means the ancient coral was gradually replaced by agate, or more simply, like me, is now a fossil.) Because the stone is also beautiful on the back, I cut an opening in the back of the setting so that as little of the stone is hidden as possible. I used a grinding bur to make a cool texture on the back of the setting as well, just for fun! I thought I would contrast the deep russet color of the coral with the earthy green tones of these natural emerald beads. I used two larger nugget emeralds in addition to the smaller faceted rondelle beads in the asymmetrical design of this piece. I made the sterling silver chain near the pendant myself, as well as the large sterling hammered link, but the simple hook clasp is a tribal silver creation that I purchased. I used a lovely moss green natural raw silk cord to support the pendant and I actually attached a small sterling silver lobster clasp to the end of the cord so that you can either wear it doubled as pictured, or as a longer single length. The necklace then, is adjustable and can be worn at an 18 inch or 32 inch length. The pendant piece is 1-7/8 inches long; the coral stone is 5/8 inch diameter and the emerald drop is 1/2 inch long.
Please be sure to check the measurements I've given for any items before you purchase; I feel like some of them look online bigger in the photos than they are because I get in so close with the camera, so it's better to be sure.
