Product code: Large Antique Compartmentalized Serving Platter in Silverplate and Glass by online Wiskemann

Date: ca 1910-1930

A high-quality and fancy looking serving platter with individual removable glass inserts. This platter is relatively large compared to many other ‘chip and dip' style platters. The five sector shaped (i.e. pie slice shape) inserts are placed in circular fashion around a central ‘dipping' pot that is higher and has scalloped borders; these are all made of thick glass that could also be crystal.

The removable recipients are housed in a round tray with a raised border and basket-type handle that has been decorated with rococo style shell motifs and lily flowers; this is all silver-plate. The tray is hallmarked with ‘Wiskemann' a Swiss cross and a ‘20' which stands for the amount of grams of pure silver that has gone into the item.
