online Japanese JAKATSU Wormy Ware TEAPOT - Brown Glaze Water Drops - Antique. GREAT Condition - There are a few chips in the glaze and around the rim. There is a chip don the edge of the spour. PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS.
I do not know if this is the original handle. It is some kind of wood or vine. I have seen it called barb-wire handle. That is kind of what it looks like. -
Pot measures 8 1/4" from tip of spout. It is 5 1/4" to top of knob on handle. The handle is 2" taller than the lid. It is 21" in diameter 6 1/2" across the largest part.
Antique circa late 1800's or early 1900's Unglazed stoneware or pottery with a brown, water-drop glaze called Jakatsu (or snake-scale) glaze. Very interesting raised texture.
