I've been making my mahjong bracelets since I lived in NYC in the early 1990s. That's when I saw my first one. It was on online the arm of my friend's very chic mother (think Rei Kawakubo gowns & Robert Clergerie platform sandals) - She was so cutting edge! I knew right then I needed to have one of my own. After hunting down a Bakelite version at the 26th Street Flea Market in Manhattan I began collecting. Then that turned into making them - and the rest is history.
