Antique Wood Coffin Hand Crank to Operator/Magneto Telephone Box
Oak Wood wall-mounted “coffin” telephones were the first phones put into wide circulation. Typically tall and bulky, they needed several compartments to hold the batteries and magneto (a hand cranked generator to signal an operator who actually placed the call). The crank does work and the bells ring loud. Not a dull ring.
The ringer box is approximately:
10 1/4" TALL
8" WIDE
4 1/2" THICK
It is a 3 bar magneto.
Condition: Antique- Does work. Coffin box has chipped out areas top and bottom, where I assume a cord(s) to line(s) went. There are other typical signs of age and/or use. This is being sold "As Is" (due to age and lack of others respect for age and delicacy in return shipping of items), therefor no returns. You get what is pictured. Please, examine the pictures and online use the zoom feature to examine the condition.
Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description.
