Vintage pre-1945 hand wrought Mexican sterling silver mask bracelet. It is set with 4 black onyx hand carved masks alternating with 4 panels, each embellished with three large silver beads or raindrops, for a total of 8 panels. The masks are embellished with appliqued swirls and raindrops.

Hallmarks: It is signed by the creator, DIAZ SANTOYO and marked with his signature CJB inside a circle reading HECHO EN MEXICO PLATA 925. This very talented artist is featured on page 174 of the Bille Hougart reference book THE LITTLE BOOK OF MEXICAN SILVER TRADE AND HALLMARKS, 2006 EDITION. It was made before the Mexican government mandated Eagle hallmark system was established in the 1940's.

It is 1 and 1/8" wide and 7 " long. Acid tests sterling silver. Weighs 45.1 grams. The catch holds securely and fastens with a nice tight click. Very comfortable to wear. We gave this a light buffing for the camera. Sterling has a very nice patina from age.

The matching sterling silver earrings measure 7/8" tall by 5/8" wide and are also signed.

The total weight of the earrings and bracelet together is 52.3 grams.

These rectangular shaped masks are a more rare type of find. Sure to give you pleasure and draw compliments.

We found 1 dimple and 1 flat place on two of the round beads, but when examining with a 30x loupe, there were no chips visible.


This demi is appropriate for any daytime occasion and will take you into the evening hours as well. Truly a vintage treasure for collecting and/or wearing. Substantial heirloom quality.
