Cinnabar Red Mini Crystals online on white Dolomite Matrix Crystal Cluster Rocks and Minerals Mineral Specimen Special Care Hunan China Rare

This is an aesthetic medium sized cluster of cinnabar crystals on dolomite and online mixed matrix, from Hunan Province, China! The cinnabar crystals are small and transparent, with a submetallic luster and rich red shade (most visible when backlit). The contrast between the red cinnabar and the white-cream dolomite rhombic crystals is beautiful—grey matrix rock completes the color pallet. This specimen has a graphic and structural appeal, and isn't a mineral you see everyday. This cluster is an attractive and classic specimen, and would offer a lot of beauty to any specimen collection!

Cinnabar is a mercury sulfide mineral and requires special care. Cinnabar is the primary ore for refining elemental mercury—the bright red pigment vermillion comes from this mineral as well. Like many other sulfides, cinnabar is a high density, low hardness mineral. Cinnabar was used for its brilliant red color since antiquity in the Near East, Olmec culture, China, and Ancient Rome.
Dolomite is an anhydrous calcium magnesium carbonate mineral, which forms in the trigonal-rhombohedral system. Often mistaken for calcite, dolomite is more closely related to ankerite and kutnohorite.

*Note: Do not lick or ingest any part of these minerals--wash hands after handling, and avoid any dust or fragments. Mercury is extremely toxic to humans in its elemental form, but in the crystalline ore specimens are safe to own when cared for properly.

Healing: *Do not use internally.* Cinnabar is associated with manifestation, wealth creation, and alchemical change. Cinnabar is one of the so-called “merchant's stones”, and is believed to manifest wealth. Dolomite is associated with balance, grounding, energy alignment, and blockage removal.
