In this section you find animals and figurines in the rocks. At least it looks like rock. Actually they are made of marbled birch wood, which was laying for some years in the moist forests surrounding my home. The interesting lines and grain are actually mold stains. So the artist is not so much me, but nature itself.
I walk through the forests to find those fallen, decaying birch and beech trees and then I chop them up with an ax, to get the pieces with interesting shape and structure. After that the cutting, carving and smoothing begins.
The process of decay is stopped after drying and it will stay the way it is. But you must know, the wood is not as hard and stable as fresh beech wood. Therefore the carvings in this section are not meant for children to play with. They are for lovers and enthusiasts of the beauty online of wood and the creation of nature.
