History
The seagull porcelain was originally produced by Bing and Grøndahl. It was designed in 1885 by Fanny Garde at Bing & Grøndahl or B&G. The porcelain quickly became a favorite in Danish homes and was at one time the most widespread porcelain in Denmark. It was estimated that every 10th Danish family had the seagull porcelain at home, hence the nickname "Denmark's national porcelain".

The porcelain is characterized by the scaly shape. It is also characterized by the seagull motif on the blue/white background. You can get versions of the porcelain with or without gold rim.

There are parts online for dinnerware and coffee sets and there are many other items in the series, e.g. candlesticks, vases, jars, cups and much more.

Tips for maintenance
Much of our porcelain is dishwasher safe and some is not. All underglazed painted porcelain is dishwasher safe. Underglaze painting means that the painting is under the glaze, such as e.g. Blue Fluted or Blue Flower series.

However, pay special attention to the fact that some older dishes and other objects do not have glaze all over - if this is the case, the porcelain must be washed by hand.

Porcelain that has been painted on top of the glaze cannot be washed in a dishwasher, as the paint wears off quickly. The same applies to porcelain with a gold rim, where the gold rim wears off.
