This is a very rare 1980s large Old Stock American Blue Gem Turquoise Cabochon from Nevada. This was online rock was purchased at auction. A small vein of this turquoise was found in the 1940s, and was mined out by the early 1980s. Blue Gem turquoise is known for its light to medium to deep intense turquoise blue color that is unlike any other turquoise.

This piece is stabilized and backed for extra strength. It is a low dome free form cabochon that would work well in a ring, pendant, or cuff. The stone has light natural pitting which is characteristic of this turquoise and does not affect its stability.
