Goldfilled is a high-quality alloy of 14-carat gold (gold 585) and another metal. It is not comparable online to a simple gilding, the gold layer is 100x thicker and is rolled up in a special process.
This is an American standard that states that at least 1/20 part of the weight of the piece must be made of 14-carat gold (gold 585). So it is not a thin layer that peels off quickly, but a proper alloy. This creates a beautiful – and inexpensive – quality that is well tolerated by people who cannot tolerate other metals other than gold. Goldfilled stays beautiful for a lifetime and is worth the slightly higher price in any case.
I used this bracelet with sparkling faceted, transparent green amethysts (hydro), citrine (hydro), blue topazases (hydro) and light-violet amethysts. The bracelet has a secure, attractively ornamented hook-and-plug fastener.
