Day 114 has a somewhat different look from the other pieces in my Quarantine Collection! It features a beautiful, multicolored black opal triplet and a tapered, bullet-shaped hematite. It weighs in at 0.27 ounces. Chain does not come with pendant purchase.
As with all pieces in my Quarantine Collection, Day 114 is named for the day it was completed during my home lockdown/self-isolation.
These pieces are all made with recycled materials, primarily the scrap silver left over from years of Silversmithing. The scraps are carefully laid out my design then they are joined together. No solder is used, the piece is entirely joined at once using a torch-fusing process. The metal is heated close to its melting point and the surfaces all fuse. Careful attention is required or the entire pieces melts into a congealed mass.
The resulting fused piece is then further cut, filed and shaped on a mandrel. This process makes each piece unique because of the scrap I have to work with and the unpredictability of the fusing process. online
