Handmade online Drawstring Treasure Bag made with Vintage Japanese Indigo Cloth and French-Knot-Sashiko Decoration
This vintage never-used bag was made by the hands and heart of Japanese sashiko artist, Yoshiko Yoshiura, with her signature style of rows of large French knots that mimic sashiko stitches from afar. She used to teach for my tour groups and I sold her book in the shop. This never-used gem (collectible?) is a simply constructed rectangle measuring 10" high x 8.75" wide. It is made from vintage Japanese home-spun soft cotton that has been dipped and dipped and dipped in a deep deep dark luscious indigo vat many times... and thus the creamy raw thick cotton thread bumps come to center stage in high contrast, easily forming a parade: an energy swirl in online the center underscored by four rows. On the back we gaze into the starlit heaven, again underlined in three rows (like waves?). The drawstring is made from twining the same thread. First two photos show the bag front and back with a little stuffing to provide shape. The bag is also stuffed in the third photo, but shows a slightly different treatment to the drawstring. Either way, the drawstring is not long enough to be on your shoulder; this bag needs to be carried by your hand or float on your wrist. The next two photos show the bag flat without stuffing, and the last three photos are all detail. NOTE: This item ships via USPS Priority. The shipping fee is not included in the price, but insurance for the full value of the bag will be added at no additional cost to the client.
