We don't know much about the World Retrospective of Animation Cinema. It was held in Montreal, Quebec in 1967 and hosted some of the most significant names in animation from the avant-garde to big studio pictures. An incredible series of flipbooks came out of it too. Unique animations and brilliantly quirky ideas fly by in a dozen little books by the likes of Otto Messner and Yoji Kuri. Here is "Infidelite" featuring an a hand-drawn goof about loyalty and relationships. These rare, fifty-plus year old books are delightful. A worthy centerpiece in anyone's collection.

The Flipbook Museum presents a personalized letter of authenticity with each purchase. All proceeds from our sales are returned to the Flipbook Museum to help fortify our permanent collection and continue our advocacy for this whimsical art form. Each new flipbook owner becomes a part of a global bookshelf of living photographs, frame-by-frame snippets of a time and place. We are thrilled to share this passion for early cinematic innovation with patrons.

The Flipbook Museum, established in 1987, is dedicated to the preservation of the history of hand-held animation from the intricate carvings of Bronze Age earthenware to the earliest experiments in stop-motion by wildman Edweard Muybridge. All flipbooks are historically valuable from the bawdy mutoscopes of disreputable saloons to the intricate, three dimensional puzzles of the modern era.
