Vintage Fringed Cloche Hat that is covered in several tiers of soft ivory-colored rayon silk thread fringe. The silky fringe covers this fitted hat in a hair-like mop that can be worn low and fitted around the head like a cloche hat or may be tilted slightly towards the back to more resemble a bucket hat. The fringe reminds us online of the flapper dresses of the 1920s to 1930s that women wore when they danced the Charleston. The fringe would spin and move with each kick and step of this infamous flapper era dance.
This amazingly fun and unique hat is a replica or facsimile of a very expensive designer's hat from the 1960s; it is NOT that designer's hat. This hat was sold at a stylish women's clothing and millinery store, Street's, in Oklahoma City, OK, circa the 1960s. The primary difference between the two types of hats is the interior frame. The hat in this listing has a structured frame that looks like netting but is not flexible. There is an ivory grosgrain ribbon on the interior as well as the original black satin Streets label. The other hat had a soft flexible interior.
You can be so creative with this fringed cloche hat! Wear with that iconic little black dress, as a bridal hat for your vintage wedding (or for the Mother of the Bride, etc.), as a jaunty look with jeans and an edgy jacket or sweater. Let your imagination soar!
