Tru-Art Company African American Doll, Vintage, American Made, Historic Doll, online FREE DOMESTIC Shipping
From the Tru-Art company, this Vintage African American Doll reflects a historical time in history with period dress. This beautiful little lady, with the mesmerizing eyes, is quite old. I cannot find another like her on online the internet.
The 1960s were chosen as her birth time as I read there was a tremendous increase in African American dolls in that decade but I believe she could have been created closer to 1940. She was made in America with company identification on the bottom of the stand.
She has no lower body or legs, so to show her standing she must be placed on some object, like a bowl or vase. To show her sitting, simply place her on a flat surface and spread the dress out around her. Also, she has arms but no hands and as best I can tell she was made that way.
The only defects that I have found are on her apron, and one spot on the bow on her back. All of these are shown clearly in the pictures.
I have not determined what her head is made of, possibly wood or ceramic.
Standing height: about fourteen inches. Seated: About seven inches.
