Whitney earned her BFA in 2003 from Denison University, and her MFA in 2008 from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she studied with Vincent Desiderio, Yvonne Jacquette, and William Scott Noel among others.

Born in Connecticut, Whitney lived in Surrey, England for almost a decade before moving to Virginia in 1994. Her work has been exhibited nationally and featured in various publications online. Her pieces are in private and public collections throughout the United States and abroad. She has worked in galleries and museums and is represented by The Photo Dog Art Gallery and Jessie Edwards' Studio (Block Island), Beach House Gallery (Dunedin, FL), and Beacon Art Shortwave Gallery (Stone Harbor). She teaches drawing at John Tyler Community College.
