Vintage 90’s online Handknit Merino Wool Women’s Pullover by “Woolies Handknits “

This sweater is a sample and so never worn. Made in the 90's by cottage industry in Uruguay, it is beautifully handknit using both intarsia and Fair Isle techniques. The label reads, “Nan Hadden, Woolies Handknits “.
The design is based on antique kilim rugs with areas of “abrash” worked in a lighter grey than ground. The patterns are abstracted Eastern florals with embroidered stems and knots. The colors are delicate and mostly earthy pastels set against a charcoal grey ground. Toffee brown, pink, wine, blonde, natural heather, camel, online taupe, grey green and blue green. They pop against the dark, neutral ground.
Sides are straight with extended, drop shoulders and long sleeves. A graphic border is worked above the narrow ribbed body and cuffs. The collar is a tall ribbed turtleneck that can be worn folded over or standing up as desired.
Oversized knitwear was popular at this time and this is definitely oversized. I have sized it as a current L/XL, but a lot depends on how you wear it. As always, compare measurements below with a sweater that currently fits the wearer to avoid disappointment. Excellent, original condition.
