The light blue Hazel Atlas E-Z Seal pint size glass lightning jar is in great condition. In the pictures, one can notice there are waves and bubbles in the glass. The light blue color is a tad bit more blue than many of the aqua color jars referenced.

This jar has a rare bump bottom that is so prevalent that the jar actually has a slight wobble.

The bottom has several bubbles in the glass. Also, there is a number 9 with a line below it and an "A" on the bottom. According to references, this is a pre-1923 Hazel Atlas jar because there is no H over A mark on the bottom.

The metal bale that folds down allows the top to be removed very quickly - hence the term "lightning". All of the letters are raised. There are seams down the sides of the jar.

The rubber gasket is not included with the jar. The lid is tight without a gasket.

There is a very tiny chip on the underside of the outer edge of the rim where the lid caps over. Other than this, there are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair marks on this gorgeous glass collectible. There are some vintage wear and rub marks on this glass jar - mainly on the base where it sits. The lid has some tiny scratches where the metal bale goes over the center. The glass under the metal bale is scratched from where the hinge of the metal bale rubs the glass the glass. The metal bale has a developing rusty patina giving it a uniquely aged appearance. The jar has been cleaned inside and out. However, we did not remove the metal bale so there is still a tad bit of cloudy-look under the wire around the neck. It is very faint unless the jar is pulled up very close and inspected in the light.

The decorative possibilities for this beautiful Atlas E-Z Seal glass lightning jar are many. The china cabinet or display curio would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous lightning jar. Also, the display or shadow box shelf in the kitchen would welcome this beautiful glass treasure. The Atlas canning jar measures 5 5/8" tall to the top of the glass lid and approximately 5.25" tall to the top of the rim x approximately 3.25" wide across the top from outside to outside and 2.25" wide from inside to inside x 3 3/8" wide across the base from outside to outside.
