Robert Burns, known as the National Poet of Scotland, is the subject of this Cabinet Plate made by Royal Doulton of England ."Robbie" Burns, the Bard of Ayrshire, was a renowned poet and lyricist during his short lifetime (b 1759 - d 1796). The full online color transfer ware plate features his portrait in the center surrounded by titles of his works and depictions of his characters. Meant for display, it is a full 10 1/4" in diameter.
It is 10 1/4" in diameter, and stands about 3/4" off the table.
It is marked with the royal Doulton Mark stamped in black, "Made in England, Royal Doulton, England" and with the number D6344.
The "D" numbers were issued in a few series which encompass about 30 years. I was not able to narrow down a date, so the "1960's" given as a date is a guess.
It is in excellent condition, no crazing, chips or cracks, one hard-to-see 1/2" scratch an inch to the left of the bottom rim center line.
