- This beautiful vintage Asian blue and white porcelain square vase is a handmade import from Japan via Andrea by Sadek. This hand painted oriental vase depicts a breathtaking landscape of Mount Hua, aka Huashan 華山, in Huayin, China. Mount Hua is one of the five great mountains of China with a long history of religious significance. It has the feel of an ink/watercolor painting!
- Made in Japan, SIGNED
- Andrea by Sadek is the main brand of the family-owned company Charles Sadek Imports that was founded in 1936.
- Blue and white porcelain 青花瓷 has its origins in China from the 14th century. It was widely exported and inspired other countries such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Europe, etc.
- Blue and white ware in Japan is known as sometsuke 染付 (aka Arita ware or Hirado ware). Various forms and decorations were highly influenced by China, but later developed its own forms and styles.
