Here is a fabulously attractive little brooch - very pretty indeed !! A silver-plated oval brooch with a brown, beige and creamy-white swirly agate stone with very definite curvy layers and a translucent appearance when held up to the light. This is a truly gorgeous little piece - probably more likely to be Edwardian than Victorian, because of its styling - much plainer and simpler than Victorian, but still having the Victorian type pin hinge and the extra long pin - essential for staying done up on the heavy fabrics of the Victorian dresses.
This little brooch measures 3.5cms wide x 2.3cms high (1 3/8 " wide x 1" high) and is perfect for wearing at the buttoned-up neckline of a blouse - very Edwardian !! It also has a large C-clasp, in the traditional Victorian / Edwardian manner.
I personally love all the different agates and thus, really like Victorian and Edwardian jewellery like online this, for its agate content, especially when combined with sterling silver or silver-plated metal, which suits it particularly well. This is a really pretty stone in beautiful swirly shades of dark brown, coffee and cream.
