Van S. Authentics brooch pendant combination, 1940s gold plated amber glass pin, numbered rare, #3270.

Due to the lower number of the piece and the safety clasp that extends beyond the clasp I would date this as from 1940 or 1950, the style points me to the 1940s.

Authentics Inc. is a company founded by Joanne and Reginald Moonan, in the mid-30s later known as Van S. Authentics. Their company was in business from 1930 to 1969 when they were bought out by another company.

The company made costume jewelry that was sold at the Hattie Carnegie salon in New York and online at department and specialty stores around the the country. Mrs. Moonan's designs were also frequently featured in fashion magazines.

The brooch/pendant measures 2 3/8" (7.1 cm) X 2" (5.1 cm) and, other than a few minor flaws to the glass (most likely factory produced) and a small scratch in the gold fronting, is in very good vintage condition.

This would be lovely as a Wedding cake brooch, wedding dress sash or part of a wedding brooch bouquet!
