Mid-Century Czechoslovakian Glass Modernist Vase by Rudolf Jurnikl. The vase is flared rectangular form with two circular panels of raised 'hobnail' decoration. Pattern number 13227 Rudolfova hut 1964.

Condition: In excellent vintage condition! A few minor scratches on the glass.

Jurnikls' designs had great commercial success. His style is unique, characterized by strong artistry. Shapes of Jurnikl's pressed glass are clearly harmonious and expressive. They appear as very decorative in the interior.

Jurnikl studied in Kamenicky Šenov at the department of glass engraving and later he continued his studies at the College of Arts and Crafts in Prague with Prof. Štipl. In 1958-1988 he was an artist in the Rudolfova Huť glass factory in Dubi U Teplic, where he collaborated with F. Vízner and L. Urban.

In the 60s he participated in a new visually expressive concept of pressed glass. He effectively managed to make it happen. Jurnikl's works from these years are not connected to anything from online the past. His designs have dynamic shapes and vibrant curves. In the 70s, Jurnikl used a floral art, which continued to exist.

Iconic for his work is a vase called SUN, later OSAKA, which was exhibited at EXPO in Japan in 1970.
