This beautiful lace half-apron is an heirloom online and traditional piece which will be adored at any Polish or Slovak wedding reception! The Dollar Dance or Money Dance, a popular tradition at some weddings, originated as a custom in Poland. During this occasion, guests have a chance to dance with the bride -- for a fee! The Maid/Matron of Honor sits nearby and collects dollars (or even fives, tens, or twenties) in the apron as payment for a short dance with the bride. The bride and groom traditionally use this money on their honeymoon. This Apron also is accented with hand-rolled ribbon rosettes and streamers, as well as high quality plastic babies, as a symbol of fertility for the newly wedded couple.
Being of Polish descent, I am very familiar with this custom and dance. Also fun, though sometimes annoying ;), is when older relatives tie the dollars in a tight knot before handing them over. :) Honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of wedding receptions here in Northeastern Pennsylvania!
This Apron is constructed of bridal satin with a beautiful lace overlay. There are two generously-sized lined pockets for collecting the cash! There are no unfinished seams, even on the underside, and this piece has a very substantial feel to it. Top-stitching gives this garment a very professional look. The apron ties in the back, and one size fits most. Additionally, the Apron is accented with hand-rolled ribbon rosettes and streamers (your choice of color), as well as 4 plastic babies.
** Pleas ask me if you have any questions about the construction of your Apron, or about this wonderful tradition! :)
The Apron is available in White or Ivory. Ribbons can match the apron (white or ivory) or be any color you choose. Maybe to match your wedding colors. :)
CARE: Hang your apron on a skirt hanger in the bathroom while you shower to let any wrinkles fall out. Ironing is NOT recommended.
Carefully spot clean only.
Please allow 6 weeks for construction.
