Sakura, cherry online blossoms fused glass flowers roundel in a metal frame

online Add a touch of spring to your window or wall with this one of a kind kiln fired glass roundel.
I created this piece in my studio using a variety of glass working techniques. I started with drawing the design. Then I cut sheet glass to the sizes and shapes I needed. After assembling these I added frit (pieces of crushed glass) and vitrograph (strands of glass pulled from molten glass) to finish the design. Next, I placed the glass in a kiln and fused (melted) the glass together. By carefully controlling the temperature within the kiln I was able to achieve a bas relief texture which adds to the beauty of this piece. To finish the roundel I soldered jump rings and a metal frame around the edge. All metal has a dark patina.
