We are pleased to bring to market this gorgeous cake plate, by New Martinsville/Viking Glass. The pattern called: Janice. Typical of New Martinsville/Viking, as rich in a Ruby red as one could ask.... Flawless in condition, it measures 13-5/8" handle to handle, with a diameter of 11-3/8". New Martinsville Glass Manufacturing Company was founded in 1901, in New Martinsville, West Virginia. They produced depression glass with Radiance and Moonstone being the two most popular patterns. They also produced an art glass line name Muranese, referred to by collectors as New Martinsville Peach Blow. The factory burned down online in 1907 but reopened a year later. They produced a lot of clear pressed glass patterns, decorated with gold or ruby staining or enameled decoration. In 1944, the company was bought by The Viking Glass Company. In 1987, former president of Fostoria Glass Company, Kenneth Dalzell, purchased the company and renamed it Dalzell-Viking. New Martinsville closed down for good in 1998.
