Product code: Online Handmade 23
This is an mid-century Turkish rug. It is hand knotted with all wool fiber on a cotton warp and weft as are the majority of all oriental rugs. Many Afghan and Caucasian rugs are all wool and some online Turkish and Iranian rugs are silk but comparatively few. The design is geometric in nature and the dyes used are not synthetic. It is a country rug not made in a city factory but likely made by one person on a home. It has large central medallion pattern with one relatvely wide border. . It has approximately 90 hand tied knots per square inch, a total of about 60,000, making it a coarse to medium fine rug. It is salmon, white, dark brown and blue. This rug is in excellent condition for its age, has no spots worn to the foundation and has no stains. I have been selling on eBay for 24 years and have 100% feedback under the username “acanthus”. Oriental rugs need not be so expensive but be aware of machine made rugs as well as factory made hand-tied rugs using petrochemicals and poorly paid labor.
