Antique Venetian Salviati Ruby Cranberry hand blown online Murano glass Compote with Gilt Dolphin stem

This is an absolutely stunning antique Venetian Murano glass compote!! I've never seen one quite like this with so much detail and artistry in the design.

The compote is very richly composed of deep red cranberry or ruby glass for the bowl and base. The bowl is adorned with a clear scalloped rope trim on the underside, which is subtly enhanced with elegant gold leaf flakes. The same gilding is applied to the hand blown glass Dolphin which makes up the detailed stem of the compote. The dolphin has small contrasting yellow, black, and red glass eyes embedded in the face while a long tail gracefully scrolls and loops around above the extremely detailed aquatic creature.

This entire compote measures 7 1/4” tall x 6 3/4” at the widest point of the flared bowl which tapers online to approximately 3” at the base of the bowl. The pedestal base measures 4 1/4” diameter and the blown glass dolphin/fish stem measures approximately 4” tall x 2 1/4” wide. I could find no chips cracks or blemishes on this exquisite hand blown piece.

This would look so stunning as part of a tablescape with luscious fruit and grapes spilling out, or filled with candy on a side table. It would even be fabulous in a bedroom or dressing room for displaying beautiful jewelry!
