Original Painting " Derelict Chevy".

STYLE. Painting loosely, big brush strokes, swipes from the palette knife, and bold color all combine to create energy and an image much more lively and interesting than faithful reproduction of reality. Bottom line my style can be called representational but impressionistic, occasionally bordering on the abstract. I often seek to deconstruct the subject as much as possible online while keeping it recognizable.

SUBJECT: An abandoned 1935 Chevy flatbed truck sits rotting somewhere in a rural field. Painted with palette knives and thick paint, creating a lot of rich texture as shown in the detail photos. This painting was done on a deep cradled panel with the sides painted black, which means it can be hung without a frame, and in fact is stable enough it can sit on a shelf or table.

QUALITY: I use only archival, artist quality materials in making my paintings. You can rest assured your original painting is one of a kind and will last generations. I affix and seal a label to the back of each painting detailing the size, medium and title of the painting as well as including my signature. This particular painting is painted on a deep cradled frame, 1.9" deep, the sides are painted black. This means the painting can be hung without a frame or even set on a shelf or other horizontal, flat surface.

Statement: I developed a love of cars as a little boy, largely due to the influence of my father who was a mechanic, wrecking yard owner and independent truck driver. I spent many hours playing with Hot Wheels in my Mom's flower beds, building plastic scale model cars and pretending to be driving the old wrecks in my Dad's yard. This love of the classic American automobile has been with me my whole life.

My passion for art developed later in life and of course the automobile became a favorite subject for my art. As I studied, practiced and learned more about art my style shifted to the less realistic, in particular I fell in love with the painting knife.

I love paintings that look like nothing in particular when viewed very close but when you pull back a complete, coherent image emerges, painting with knives is particularly effective at creating this effect.

I strive to showcase the beauty of the classic car while emphasizing abstract design and the texture of the paint itself, bringing a modernistic touch to a traditional subject.
