Once again, Mum gets in ahead of the curve.

By the time Frank Thrower released the Sharon design in 1971, Mum was a regular shopper at the Torrington headquarters of Dartington glass. Her eye for the modern scores again.

There are actually some strong similarities between Sharon and a Steuben design with a similar teardrop. But I am pretty sure I would remember these coming back with us in 1965 if they were Steuben. whereas purchase in Devon on a trip after I had left home feels a lot more likely.

This Dartington design is still available today. As it is mouth blown, every piece is unique and the size and shape of the teardrop bubble in the stem varies from glass to glass. These four are well matched and offer timeless style for a variety of uses: wine, water, or even cocktails.
