*SUPER RARE WITH LAST NAME FULLY SIGNED* Large online French art pottery covered soup tureen / pot with two open handles and enameled in a turquoise/teal, brown and white/ivory. It was made by Robert Picault(1919 - 2000) in Vallauris, France. Signed on the bottom, as shown. Unsure of who S.P.A. is. I have researched and asked professionals and no one has seen one with this pattern or signature. Approx 8" inches in overall height by 8" across the rim of the pot by almost 12" across the handles. A little bit about the artist: Robert Picault was born in Paris. After studying ceramics at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in Paris, he moved to Vallauris at the end of World War Two. Here, with Roger Capron, he founded the Atelier Callis in 1946. Two years later, he set up his own pottery in the Chemin du Fournas in the village. He was a friend, colleague and next-door-neighbour to Pablo Picasso, and the two learnt from each other aspects of the others specialities. Picault was also an accomplished.
