Three buddies, online 8x10 original oil painting, framed or unframed

These three guys always moved as a unit, never letting me out of their sight. They were terrific subjects. The little calf is also in my painting, Lonesome Calf.

All profits from the sales of JDinOR art go to Central Oregon charities. The current recipient is Humane Society of the Ochocos, a no-kill shelter located in Prineville, Oregon.

I'm a retired designer who returned to painting after an absence of 50 years(!) The animals in my community are a constant source of amusement and inspiration. If the weather is nice, I take a drive around our local ranching community and look for suitable subjects. There are always a bunch, or a herd, or a flock willing to pose.

I'm not looking to make money on my paintings. I'm having a good time and the paintings keep accumulating. My online wife suggested giving them away, which has been a pretty good outlet up to now. An even better idea - maybe - is to find an appreciative audience and use the proceeds to support the local needs in my community.

Here's why I selected the Humane Society of the Ochocos: The coronavirus is affecting everyone, and there is a trickle-down effect. As more people lose their jobs, choices have to be made. For some, this means that they can't afford to keep their pets if it means being able to feed their families. As a no-kill shelter, the HSOO is already bursting at the seams. I'm planning to help.
