Rita Duvall Natural Glaze Clay Pottery Trinket Jewelry Box Rustic Primitive Naturalism online Abstract Retro
This item's provenance contributes to it's attribution to Rita Duvall. In addition to the marking on the bottom of "Rita", this piece was purchased at an estate sale of her former home in Traverse City, MI in 2020. Although most well known for her ceramics in the Memphis School pop art deco style, Rita Duvall created art in many mediums and different styles. This piece feels more in the style of her online abstract natural paintings. 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/8" x 2 3/8". Interior of 1 7/8" x 1 5/8" with a depth of about an inch although there is space up under the lid of the box so that it could accommodate an item up to about 1 1/2" height. Where raw clay is exposed edges are rough and coarsely textured. No obvious damage but the nature of the style includes inconsistencies in glaze and surface.
