Antique online Bicycle Head Badge TA RICK (Buffalo, NY)

In 1885, the Buffalo city directory mentioned only one bicycle dealer.

In 1900, it listed 79 manufacturers and 136 dealers and repairers.

The growing popularity of the automobile brought about the demise of this once booming industry. Much of the early bicyle manufacturing history has been lost to time.

This badge is from a rare TA RICK bicycle. online

My research has led me to believe that this bike was manufactured by the Elmira Arms Company of Elmira, NY for the Buffalo-based company somewhere between 1890 and 1920.

This badge measures 3 3/8” tall by 2” wide.

It is in nice vintage condition with remnants of original red paint on “RICK” AND THE “R”.
