I believe the darkness is actually just dirt build up but I have no idea how to clean it. Our house was built 1899 and these are original to the house. We are fixing up our house and unfortunately we can't keep everything original as we would like to so I'm selling some of the bits and pieces that we take off in order to put new things in.
