3 Volume Set, Hutchinson's Picturesque Europe, Illustrated with Color Plates, Tour of the Countries, Photos and online Art - 16496
Here is a huge 3 volume set of books called "Hutchinson's Picturesque Europe", a popular and illustrated tour into the fair countries of Europe amid scenes of natural beauty and grandeur and lands rich with historic memories. It was edited by Walter Hutchins. It was published by Hutchinson & Company of London, England. I couldn't find a date of publication in it, but I did see online that it was published in 1923.
This set of books has about 2,000 beautiful illustrations, mainly in two colors. There are many full page color plates that are signed by the artist. Along with online being a pictorial tour of Europe, there is some historical text to describe the countryside or tell the history. It does have some color maps.
The books measure 8 3/4" x 10 1/2". There are 568 pages in Volume 1. It has a bookplate in the front with the name of Irving Eugene Loveland on it. There is no writing in the book. The edges of the pages are a little dirty. The endpapers are toned. The spine has cracked here and there. No pages are loose. The covers have wear on the edge, especially the spine at the top where it is ripped a little.
Volume 2 feels tighter. There isn't as much wear to the spine. A bookplate is in this volume, too. There is no writing and no torn or missing pages. Pages numbered from 570 to 1088. There is some foxing on some pages. It has splits in the spine.
Volume 3 goes up to page 1,648, plus an index. The condition is the same as Volume 2. These are very heavy books, weighing almost 5 pounds each.
