online Could this be in remembrance of Mount Krakatoa which erupted on Aug. 23, 1883? This is an unusual cameo in that the right facing lady with a comb in her hair and wearing a flower corsage, is looking at an erupting volcano. The brass brooch is 1 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch tall and I would say it has a story to tell. C. 1890.
